An Approaching Storm

A storm approaches, a coolness is in the air and you can hear thunder in the distance. You close your eyes, place your head in your hands and say, "I just don't know if I can handle it this time". You hear the thunder draw closer, the wind begins to whip against your skin; your heart pounds faster and faster as the dark, ominous clouds form over your head. "What do I do now?", you cry in a faint whisper. Lightening pops and rain begins to beat down on you; all the despair, the lies, the hate, the anger, rains down on you relentlessly. As Christ sees you, He cries, but wait, He does not just watch, He sends His spirit to surround you. You feel this tug on your heart and a fight begins to rage inside you; darkness want's to hold on to you, it want's to keep you from Jesus Christ because He is the light that will drive that darkness out. For once, you resist the darkness; instead of looking around and behind you, you fix your eyes on Jesus Christ and you wail out in desperation, "Oh my Lord, please help me; have mercy on me; take me, a wretched sinner, and free me from this life of sin...SAVE ME, MY LORD, JESUS CHRIST!". Lightening flashes once more, but it is the light of Christ that scatters the darkness. Beloved, stop living in a self-made prison, only digging your pit deeper; surrender to Christ. You will always face battles, but the children of God face them with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Peace and grace be with you all.
