Receive Ye The Holy Spirit.
Why do so many still fight the same sin over and over, even when they are a Christian. It is because they have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit. Granted, when you were saved, the Holy Spirit came and dwelt in you, however, you were not yet filled with the Holy Spirit. Follow me for a moment as I show this in Scripture. Take the disciples when they were gathered after the crucifixion of Christ, and Jesus came to them after He rose from the dead; they called Him Lord before this, but now on this day they believed with all their hearts that God raised Him from the dead. Which matches what the apostle Paul wrote, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9). So, at this moment they were saved, and Jesus "breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost" (John 20:22). They then had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but it was 50 days later when the day of Pentecost fully came that a mighty wind rushed into the upper room and cloven tongues like fire sat on them (Acts 2:1-3). On that day they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and from that day forward they preached the Gospel with boldness and gave their lives for the Lord Jesus Christ. But we need a daily filling of the Holy Spirit; it is not a one time deal and then power for the rest of your days, we must pray to the Father to fill us daily. If you seek, you will find, and if you ask, the Father will give you. It is with the power of the Holy Spirit that we are set free from the power of sin, have the power to love others, and have power to boldly preach the Gospel and witness to others about Christ. Seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and when God sees your ready, He will fill you. May the love, peace and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
