Fully Healed by His Stripes

It is written, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed"(Isaiah 53:5). The healing in this verse speaks of more than just a physical healing, but also of emotional, mental, and most of all, spiritual healing. The Jewish soldiers would give out 39 lashes with a whip or rod, but they gave Jesus over to the Romans, who gave more than what Jewish traditions called for, and with a rod that had 7 to 9 leather straps attached to it, at which had bone or metal on the ends. The word scourge means, among other things, to beat and cause great suffering, and Christ gave His back to them. The things you are going through, Christ went through. He faced temptation, ridicule, mockery, scorn, betrayal, abuse, pain, torture, torment, and death. But you see, that term death should have a different meaning to the follower of Christ. Because Christ faced all those things so we may be forgiven, but death, could not hold our mighty Champion. By His stripes we are healed, by His blood we are redeemed and reconciled, and by His resurrection we are justified. Even if we die, we shall still live, and live forever more with Christ Jesus the Lord. May His grace be with you all.
