Stepping Out of The Boat
Let us consider a powerful lesson. If you recall the account in the Gospel of Matthew 14 of Peter walking on the water to Christ, you will realize that Peter is the one who asked if it was Jesus, that He bid him to come. It is true that Christ draws people to Himself, but He will not force you to accept Him. When Peter saw Jesus, it was Peter who called out to Christ, then Christ told Peter to come to Him. There is something else we see here, Peter stepped out on a stormy sea; he stepped out of the only thing that was keeping him afloat, in order to go to the Lord. As before mentioned, Christ will not force you to accept Him, He will draw you, but never force you. It is your choice to call out to Him, and it is your choice to go to Him when He draws you. People recall that Peter began to sink in the water when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the choppy seas around him. However, out of all the disciples, Peter was the only one with faith enough in Christ to step out of safety, and walk to Jesus on the water; as soon as he began to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me", and Jesus grabbed his hand and they both went back to the boat. Lastly, when Peter and Jesus got back into the boat, Peter and the rest of the disciples worshiped the Lord. Despite the wind, waves, and the rocking of the boat, they worshiped Jesus Christ the Lord in the mist of it. Remember my dear friends, if Christ calls you unto Himself and you have faith to step out of your safe zone, He will quickly provide protection when you stumble and cry out to Him; He will reach down and pull you out of your choppy seas. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
